Music Review: Michael Andrews in a intimate setting of smart Folky/pop

Known as a musician, producer from Glendale, Michael Andrews crafts a program of nice songs with mature melodic & lyrical depth. He basically wrote and played everything you hear on this disc with the help of engineer Brian Cook. Los Angeles friends Inara George & Greg Kurstin provide some nice touches to a few tracks. What you get from this disc is a guy who knows what to play to serve the song to the upmost. He serves as his own session player on a wide variety of instruments and textures. It's a hard thing to pull off without sounding like it's all coming from one person. Todd Rundgren, Stevie Wonder, and Prince did it. I can only attribute Mike's success in accomplishing this task is his wide appreciation and ability to create and assimilate music from most all genres and periods. His sometimes weary smoke-drenched voice weaves in and out of his arrangments like someone who has seen & experienced life. Buy it, play it, and enjoy.
