Music Review: Nothing new, falls flat

I saw Meiko live at the Hotel Cafe Tour in October, and she had a pretty decent voice, but that was really about it. Nothing groundbreaking. Her sound is soothing slighty-quirky alternative pop. She sounds like Feist and can be compared to Ingrid Michaelson. Since I'm always looking for new female singer-songwriters, I wanted to like her, but I didn't like her attitude -- overly confident with not a lot of talent to back it up like so many young female artists today. (Some people won't care, but I prefer humility.) Though Meiko could get somewhere with her voice, her lyrics are of that brand of torturous generic sappy non-specific love songs. She needs someone like SARA BAREILLES (amazing talent with both songwriter and vocals) to do the writing.
