Music Review: Another good album released the first half of 1994

I heard some Meat Puppets on WPRB in Princeton University, but it wasn't anything like this. I originally thought they were from Philadelphia, but according to Rock 100 WDIZ they are from Phoenix, AZ. Anyway this is a good album I'm glad I gave it a chance. I was tired of hearing "Backwater" which was the big hit down here in Florida. I enjoyed hearing "Violet Eyes", and "Hole In The Roof" just to name a few. It does sound like they went grunge with this album, so I can certainly understand why people feel like they sold out with this, but let's face it bands walk a thin line between staying true to their roots, and wanting to succeed. I can only say that with the Meat Puppets they wanted to branch out as there's a cross between grunge, and alternative here. I know with some of the Meat Puppets could sound like hardcore punk, and others almost new wave. They are just versatile, so give them a break. I know sampling "Backwater" I'm still tired of it, but the album is still good.
