I've listened to mc chris since his music debuted nationaly on [adult swim]. I've enjoyed his musical progression through the years.
After the truly amazing "Life's a Bitch and I'm Her Pimp" debut album, I couldn't wait to get his follow up.I managed to get a copy of the ultra rare, hand-made and signed version of "Knowing is Half the Hassle", and then later, the finished/polished version (shown here).
This review, therefore, is more of a retrospective.
mc chris has grown lyrically and musically. I consider this his "worst" album. I say this because he has risen to such sublime heights, that his sophomore effort falls flat in comparison. It's an enjoyable album, sure, but there are better ones. (as of this writing I consider "mc chris is dead" to be his masterpiece [well, maybe it shares the top with "LaBaIHP"] effort)
From this album my favorite song is "Hijack."
mc chris' penchant for adding skits to "break up the monotony of the music" takes a decidedly dark turn in this album, but I enjoy the interplay between he and Gemberling.
Amazon only allows full-star reviews, but I'd really give this a three-and-a-half star review.
