Maxwell! Wow, right of the bat, enough said. I love this CD. From the moment Bad Habits plays, I am drawn into your genius. I love every song. I can hear all the instruments, thank you for that. Reminds me of Miles Davis/jazzy. You will love this CD, especially if you are a Maxwell fan. Urban Hang Suite CD, is still one of my favorites. Can't wait for Summer's and Night. Maxwell,you came to Texas, Austin/San Antonio area, and I know Texas is big state, but please consider a concert in Dallas/Houston area next time (smile)!Music Review: OMG I'M IN LOVE WITH MAXWELL ALL OVER AGAIN

After seeing him in Concert and hearing Maxwell introduce us to love continued....I anticpated the release of BLACKsummers'night from the start. It was well worth the wait. The music is full of life, you can feel that he's singing from his soul My favorites are....

Oh my! I have been waiting for years for Maxell to return and I am so very happy that he has. Now as far as this CD, I have to admit, I was not impressed. I felt it lacked his typical "luster" and "passion". I wrote it off to him getting back into the "biz" again and being a little rusty or maybe new writers or writer's block. I can ONLY hope that his next CD will be like his older music...Please bring back the "soulful" Maxwell and I hope we don't have to wait as long as we did for this one! Cannot imagine why all the glowing reviews on this site for this CD. Not at all the Maxwell sound that I grew to love over the 90's. Have every other CD, and will pull those out when I'm in the need for some smooth, jazzy, mellow-voiced Maxwell--but this one will be resold. His voice is tinny, the music hasn't any rhythmic beauty to it, and the lyrics are gravely seedy over many songs. Just cannot fathom what the 5 star reviewers are listening to...unless they're his pals, etc. Pass.Music Review: Well worth the wait!!

I waited along with the world for this cd for 8 years and the wait was well worth it. Maxwell did not disappoint me with this wonderful collection of songs. This is a nice cd with thoughtful classy music.I like some songs more than a couple ( Cold and Playing Possum not my taste). The song "Pretty Wings" is just a sweet lovely song. I appreciate Maxwell mixing in the different tempos and messages. Looking forward to the second and third installments of this trilogy.
