Music Review: The message is greater than the song.

Great another Matthew Ward album! In common with "My Redeamer" Matthew brings us another album of heartfelt worship oriented songs aimed at poining the listener to Christ and not to himself which is his declared ministry goal. On first listen I was slightly dissapointed because some of the songs are of a similar style to the many many praise and worship albums "clogging up" the output of the Christian music scene. That may sound a bit harsh but I would prefer a little more creativity than the stock phrases found in modern worship songs. On the other hand the secular music scene is full of "I love you baby" and "your the one for me" etc etc. So the genre dictates the lyric. In second, third, fourth listen the songs grew on me and after all those with a relationship with God will find the words comming naturally. The stand-out songs in my view are "Consume Me" and "I will worship you". "Consume Me" is the most fresh sound with an accoustic guitar rhythm intro and a feel of 'Oh Lord just take away all that keeps me from you!'. All the songs are sung in Matthew's great way and apart from my personal reservations mentioned above (which say more about me than the CD) I say BUY THIS NOW!
