I was pleased to find her EP,"Lenses of Contact" and hoped that this was a prelude to something greater. Well it was,and when I found out she had a new CD coming,I preordered it. "The Other Side of Time" is a unique and beautiful piece of work. But it must be taken for what it is,her debut solo work. Solo being the key word here. I think those who insist on comparing this CD to her time with October Project are being unfair. I wonder how many people realize what they have in their hands when they hold this CD. Or,are they listening but not hearing. When I think of what she has accomplished with this recording including,landing a contract with Sony(Thank you Sony)and obviously putting her heart and soul into this album. She has truly emerged as a singer/songwriter of her own accord. This is something to be proud of.

Another point that needs to be made is Mary Fahl is not just another singer/songwriter in a field that is already filled with many talented artists. What separates Mary from all the others is a gift that she possesses. That gift is her incredible voice. Much has already been written here and elsewhere describing this beautiful voice and by some very eloquently. All of it very true.Every once in awhile an artist comes along that gives the listener so much joy and redefines what listening to music is all about. Mary Fahl is just such an artist.

I had a chance to see Mary perform when she passed through Milwaukee on her recent tour. If you get a chance to see her don't pass it up, GO! Not only is she a beautiful woman but a very talented, professional and accomplished artist. And that voice of hers is just incredible in a live setting. I was able to meet with her after the show,she is not only gracious but very thankful for her fans and the support they give her. This came across as heartfelt and honest.

It was during her show when she breaks and chats with her audience,that she made a comment that really made me think and has motivated me to try and do something.

Because of the difficult times the music industry is in right now (and I know this to be true as I have family in the business)she has to rely on word of mouth to promote her new CD. And when any business has to alter budgets, cuts will have to be made. That's just the way it is in any industry. So until the corporate spreadsheets show some gains,it will be up to us to help and promote her. Please spread the word so there are fewer people that will say "who" when the name Mary Fahl is mentioned. Let them know just how talented and gifted an artist she is and how beautiful the music is that she creates.

And most importantly, buy this CD, "The Other Side of Time". We can make a difference, and by we I mean all her fans,old,new and future. Consider this CD an investment, one that is very worthwhile, because with each purchase you will be helping her get that much closer to the future she so rightly deserves.
