Music reviews of Lest We Forget: The Best ofMusic Review: Has the Popular Songs, But Not All The Great Ones Rating: 3 Stars
I'm not 13, I just did the kid's review to access it quicker...
Anyway, Marilyn Manson is one of the few bands of the 90s that stood the test of time, I hate crap like Nirvana, STP, or Limp Bizkit. Sorry, but those bands are all dated and don't sound exciting anymore. Marilyn Manson is amazing because he is blamed for kids killing their parents or other kids, for turning people against religion and authority, and causing massive nation wide suicides. Yes, the media has indeed made Marilyn Manson "bigger than Satan".
This collection includes his regular studio albums, Portrait, Smells Like Children, Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals, Holywood, Golden age of Grotesque, and includes his newest single, his version of "Personal Jesus", his recent version of "Tainted Love" and "Long Hard Road out of Hell" off the "Spawn" soundtrack.
The songs on here are his "greatest hits" without a doubt, but the title of this CD is misleading, they are not his best songs. Sorry, but there are just too many great songs missing here.
Love Song-familiar singalong headbanger from Holywood about the U.S. and our love affair with guns.
Personal Jesus-I don't like it, too boring. I also have a grudge against this song because whenever I hear stupid poser goth kids talk about Manson, they say this is their favorite song. HA!!!
Mobscene-Big hit from Golden Age in 2003. The riffs are good and so is the chorus, but it leaves something to be desired. I would have preferred Vodveil or Para-Noir.
Fight Song-Familiar anthem for teenagers. Fist pumping singing, great message, and heavy music.
Tainted Love-One of his better covers. I like it more than the original. This one is harder, more angry, and more fun.
Dope Show-Great song from Mechanical Animals about the celebrities in Hollywood being hollow, stupid people in the eyes of an intelligent, sensitive alien named Omega.
This is the new s**t-Typical uninspired song from Golden Age. Just lacks the kick, cause it sounds too familiar to earlier songs.
Disposable Teens-Sounds sorta like Personal Jesus but it's alot better. One of the biggest songs from Holywood, and it's disturbing and anthemic.
Sweet Dreams-Question. Why does everyone like this song? Listen to it, this song isn't scary, fun, or good at all. If you're big on MTV you might trick yourself into liking it.
Lunchbox-One of his very first singles and it still seems relevent today. Musicianship is poor, but that adds to joy of the song.
Tourniquet-Very sad song and very bizarre and scary lyrics about a boy creating a girl out of his own dead body parts and using it to make him feel like nothing, he absorbs it's pain.
Rock is Dead-it's on the Matrix soundtrack but it isn't a best of song. I would have liked to see "Great big white world" or "Coma White" instead of this.
Get Your Gunn-social commentary song from Portrait about all-american families and the troubles they try to hide. Daisy's guitar riffs are this song's highlight.
The Nobodies-Song about the Columbine tragety. This is the best song from Holywood. The media used a catastrophy like this and had a news field day about it. the U.S. is obsessed with death.
Long Hard Road Out Of Hell-This song absolutely deserves to be on here. This is one of Manson's best songs he's ever written. This one has to become a classic. The lyrics explain to be a young self proclaimed anti-christ is oh so scary.
Beautiful People-When you get past all the radio airplay, this is a great song that blends apocolyptic metal riffs with hissing, almost school girlish vocals.
Reflecting God-Another one of Antichrist Superstar's best offerings. The bass line is great, Trent Reznor wrote some of the music and the lyrics may be Manson's most profound he's written as of now. If you're a christian, listening to this song will turn you atheist, fair warning.
This album has a good selection if you want to hear what the albums basically sound like, but they are not Manson's "best of" collection. Alot of these songs are just radio friendly pop songs, his best material is not on this CD.
Lest We Forget would be better with... *Cake and Sodomy, Organ Grinder, Rock and Roll Ni**er, Irresponsible Hate Anthem, Mister Superstar, Antichrist Superstar, Great Big White World, Mechanical Animals, Last Day on Earth, Coma White, Coma Black, Apple of Sodom, Suck for your Solution, Dead God, Five to One, Vodveil, Suicide is Painless, Diamonds and Pollen, and Redeemer.

Description of Lest We Forget: The Best ofAll products are BRAND NEW and factory sealed. Fast shipping and 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed. Culled from the band?s ten year, six album career, Lest we Forget: The Best of Marilyn Manson features some of the greatest rock anthems of the last decade. Opening with "The Love Song" from Holy Wood, it proceeds to the first of a handful of cover songs which have made it as singles. The decadent, beefed up version of Depeche Mode?s "Personal Jesus" may not vary much from the original but the band do it the appropriate Goth justice; "Tainted Love" adds a menacing, industrial-glam to the electric northern soul of Soft Cell?s version; and the one that broke them into the UK mainstream, "Sweet Dreams" by the Eurythmics sounds as good as ever. So, they do a good cover but it?s really the fists in the air crowd-pleasing anthems that back up the band?s iconic imagery. The high-energy signature tune, "Beautiful People" and tracks like "Disposable Teens" or "The Fight Song" typify the band?s intelligent approach to rock?n?roll posturing. While many may have all the albums already, Lest We Forget is the perfect addition for anyone who likes the odd song but was too fearful to delve any further in the world of Marilyn Manson. --Georgina Collins
