Music Reviews of Man of La Mancha (2002 Broadway Revival Cast)Music Review: fabulous Rating: 5 Stars
I actually saw this play live in NYC when I went there on a trip and I loved it. All the leads had gorgeous and full voices. I too sing and have seen broadway shows and this is definetly a favorite. The passion these actors displayed can be heard through the songs and this is a soundtrack worth buying. I found this to be better than the original. All together this is a great piece of musical talent.
Music Review: Marvelous Revival! Rating: 4 Stars
Well cast revival comes close to the original, but not quite. The OBC was one of those once in a lifetime casts that created the piece and can never be equaled. Richard Kiley and Joan Diener were remarkable, but Brian Stokes Mitchell and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio are wonderful in their own right. And it is fantastic to have this terrific newer recording of the score.
Music Review: La Mancha Rating: 3 Stars
This is an utterly forgettable version of Man of La Mancha, the standouts however are Brian Stokes Mitchell and Ernie Sabella, these two move the show by pure force of will. The other actors don't comply to make just another show on just another resume. The Impossible Dream however is the greatest that it has ever sounded with Mitchells booming baritone.
Music Review: One of My Favorites Rating: 5 Stars
Man of La Mancha has long been one of my foavroites. I've seen several different productions from high school to professional. And even when it's bad...it's good. Of the cast recordings, this one is my favorite. The voices are well matched and the pacing keeps it moving very nicely.
