Music Review: Live MO at its Peak - Their Best Album!

This live album is my favorite of the first Mahavishnu Orchestra because of its raw live intensity, with some of McLaughlin's best playing of the time. What the recording lacks in sound quality is made up for aplenty in sheer passion and energy. Just sheet intensity and virtuosity blazing at top volume. From the first gong and fade-in arpeggios of "The Sunlit Path" to the last fade-out guitar line and gong of "Dream", this is one unforgettable album. John's searing solo (from 1:30-4:00 minutes) on "Sister Andrea" is one of his best ever, IMO (and Jan's synth solo on this track is great, too). And what MO fan wouldn't love the dynamically intense John-Billy duo jam from 12:30-16:00 in "Dream", one of the most powerful of all MO tracks? Breathtaking stuff.
