Music Review: Why should ever Boy Band be compared to the BSB?!

Sure, the Backstreet Boys were the first and are the best (no doubt about THAT!), but does every single new Boy Band that hits the music industry have to be compared to Backstreet Boys? I mean really! Everybody knows nobody can top the Backstreet Boys because they are the true Kings Of Pop...not even N'Sync can top the Backstreet Boys, no matter how much those little teenybopper N'Sync obsessive fans claim! So stop comparing all these Boy Bands to the Backstreet Boys and at least (if you must compare each and every new Boy Band to some other Boy Band), AT LEAST come up with a more cleaver Boy Band to compare them with!Anyways, despite all those horrible reviews on LFO's debut album - the people who don't even really like Pop music anyway or the people who haven't even LISTENED to this entire album except for maybe like, one or two songs - LYTE FUNKIE ONES is so awesome. My favorite tracks on this entire CD are "Summer Girls", "Girl On TV", and "West Side Story". All the other songs are great, too. Sure, this is Bubblegum Pop - no doubt about it - but it's really good Bubblegum Pop. It's not wasteful, cheesy Bubblegum Pop such as N'Sync. These songs actually have meaningful lyrics and are not just something the artists came up with in like the last minute and then just slop it all down on a piece of paper and say hey - that's music! LFO really does have talent, and lots of it - whether you Pop haters like it or not! - so get over it when you say they don't have talent. Hey, they have a lot more talent and guts than any of you people writing these horrible reviews. I'll bet my life that none of you could ever get the guts to go out and do something like this...so get off their backs!! If you love Pop music...even if it's Bubblegum Pop...than this is a great CD to add to your collection.

The laid-back hip-hop groove and tongue-in-cheek non sequiturs--New Kids, Chinese food, Abercrombie & Fitch are all crammed into the song's first few lines--of LFO's Top 5 hit "Summer Girls" don't quite prepare the listener for the less loopy boy-groupisms that fill the rest of the trio's self-titled debut album. The single's wistfulness, though, does carry over into charming, well-sung cuts such as "Girl on TV" and "West Side Story." As does the flow of pop-culture references, many of which nicely presume that the target audience has a knowledge of events reaching beyond the first Backstreet Boys album. --Rickey Wright
