Music Review: Guarneri Quartet always great

I just bought the complete Beethoven String Quartets in a boxed set with the Guarneri String Quartet. I've always had them on record (yes, I'm dating myself) as one of my favorite recordings of the Beethoven, and got the re-engineered CDs when they came out in the early 90s, but did NOT have the early quartets for some reason. Apparently the only way to get them now is in this complete boxed set, which is convenient, and I guess the old BMG sets of early, middle and late are now "collectible". I still think these are the best recordings of the Beethoven around. There are plenty of other great quartets, but just listen to op. 127 and see if you don't agree.
