Music Review: What a dream CD

This CD, as with many of Savall's, is sublime. My special favorites are tracks 1,6,9,10, and 12. The viol duets are wonderful - I recently heard the Marais chaconne (track 6) live on period viols from the 1650's performed my Katharina Meints and Kenneth Slowik at the Baroque Performance Institute, and that is the only possible improvement I can think of, short of hearing Savall do this live. The chaconnes are sweet, and the Apotheosis is a treat, as well. There's also a baroque oboe lick on one of the tracks that must be heard to be believed.
Buy this CD! Buy also Savall's Jenkins, Tomkins, and Dowland (Lachrimae) CDs. They are not of this world.
