Music Review: Simply dazzling

My humble 5-star rating on Amazon does not do this supreme work justice. I wouldn't even call this type of music my favourite genre, but Amsterdam works its magic in such a way that even its hour-long run-time seems to fly by. It is an album of truly immense quality, only equalled by the satisfaction I get each time I listen to it.
Song titles, phrases and lyrics weave their way across each track, detailing stories of rape, murder and the like. Linked by the unifying theme of water, these tales are written and sung by the duo of Wil Hendricks and Michael Krassner, each equally talented at their songwriting. Hendricks provides the more folksy tracks with hints of redemption, while Krassner's pieces have more piano and are a bit darker in their content. No two songs are sung by the same person twice in a row, as each contribute equally to the flow of the album.
Amsterdam is so darn catchy, and the arrangements are some of the best I've heard, too. You will also find yourself caring and obsessing over lyrics. Don't even listen to the samples - if it's in stock, be sure to snap up this masterpiece.
