Music Review: Latter-day disco-era classic

Denis and Denyse Lepage, the Canadian brother-sister duo behind Lime, were in the limelight (pardon the pun) in the early 1980s with several irresitable songs and albums, none more so that on their second album, their best by far. I still lived in Belgium at that time, and in Europe they were HUGE, scoring hit after hit. I bought the vinyl album when it came out in 1982, and played it to no end. I've had this CD re-release in my collection since forever but hadn't listened to it for a long. long time. Going through my massive CD collection the other day, I fell upon this CD and put it into my CD carrousel, and wow, what memories it brought back.
"Lime II" (12 tracks; 75 min.; originally issued in 1982, re-released in 1994 with multiple bonus tracks) is truly a nugget from the latter-day disco-era. This album starts off with the 6 original tracks on the (then vinyl) release. Listening to it now, these 6 songs sound like a greatest hits album, not a single weak track among them. The album opener (and massive hit in Europe) "Babe We're Gonna Love Tonight" sets the tone, with smart and irresitable disco-tunes, but the album only gets better after that. "Come and Get Your Love" was another massive hit. "Wake Dream" is my favorite track on here, although the next track, the even more up-tempo track "Help Yourself" comes close too. The original album closes with the only ballad on here, "A Man and A Woman", another massive hit in Europe (I don't care much for it, though).
The rest of this re-issue is filled with a bunch of remixes, 3 no less of "Come and Get Your Love" and 2 of "Babe, We're Gonna Love Tonight", among others, not surprising since they were such massive hits, but I don't care much for them. I'd rather listen to the original tracks any day. In all, this is a superb album from the latter-day disco-era, and highly recommended!
