Music Review: Yawn. Lewis is tired.

Wow. Can't quite believe all the positive reviews I see here, because if you play back this album and then go back to "The White Album" or the "Luther Burbank Performance" you will notice that Lewis now sound old and tired and dare I say, passè.
Lewis' fire has died out, I'm afraid. It started with the Carnegie Hall performance, which wasn't the correct setting for him. Even "Anticipation" barely satisfied. He's best suited for an intimate setting, like a club. This album bored me, that's all I can say.
And yes, I'm aware that Lewis is now 60 and much older, but my goodness, he just SOUNDS old. George Carlin didn't sound 60 when he was that age. I'm a big Lewis fan, but this album is a little hard to swallow - Lewis sounds jaded and frequently refers to his aging, which is supposed to be for comedic effect but it actually just makes it worse.
How very sad to see one of the top comedians turn into a walking cliche - the jaded comic. If you want the great, classic, fire-in-belly Lewis then buy any album from 2000-2005.
