Music Review: Leonard Cohen Live review

I am so glad I saw the end of the PBS broadcast of Leonard Cohen Live in London a few weeks ago. If not, I would not have known about his new set of CD's & it is truly worth knowing about. There are two CD's in the performance & they cover most of his best songs with excellent background singers & musicians. I enjoyed them so much that I bought a set for a friend who is also a Leonard Cohen fan. The sounds are haunting. The set is supurb. Thank you Lenny.Music Review: Best of Leonard Cohen's music

I love this concert cd. I first saw the dvd of it on PBS during their fund raiser, but they kept interrupting it to ask for donations. I finally bought my own copy of the dvd and it is one of the best concert videos I've ever seen. Very well done and Leonard has only gotten better with age. What a fabulous performer. As he says in the concert... the man with the golden voice. It was so good that I also bought the cd so that I could listen in the car.Music Review: Been to the concert, love the CD

I was actually at the London O2 concert last July, and unlike some other concert vs. CD experiences, this one totally captures the magic. That concert was slightly better than the one in Chicago this May, better acoustics at the O2, maybe? Also, the song line-up was slightly different. I think with the exception of the Chelsea Hotel, the London program is the one I prefer.
I just bought another one of these for my mother for Mother's Day.

Most live discs disappoint, balance of vocals and music are often a mishy mash. But Cohen's gorgeous lyrics
come through loud and clear, with background vocals neat and lean and in the background where they belong.
Orchestration is lively and a perfect foil to Cohen's droll and understated delivery. Funny, self-effacing chitchat
between numbers is very endearing. A must, even for anti-Cohenistas.

What can be said about Mr. Cohen that hasn't already? His delivery might not be everyones cup of tea, but his songwriting prowess is irrefutable! If you enjoy the well crafted song, then buy it!
