Music Reviews of BaptismMusic Review: What are you talking about!?? Rating: 5 Stars
This album by far is my favorite! I guess kids into pop aren't the people to start listening to rock all of the sudden. I would also like to add that you should NOT buy this album by liking just one song. Before I bought this album, or any other album, I go to this website to listen to the samples. If I like, I buy it!
Lenny has been one of my favorite singers for years, but there are a couple ups & downs in this album! The ups deffinately were the songs "Lady","Where are we Running?","storm","minister of rock and roll","flash" and a few others.
The downs were "what did I do with my life?", "destiny" and a couple others.
Other than that, this album was a great buy!!
Music Review: Brilliant and back with avengence !! Rating: 5 Stars
Don`t listen to the knockers - this is Mr K`s best effort in years. Truthfully, I can`t really find one dud on it. Overall, a much more complete offering than the disappointing ' 5 ' and ' Lenny'. The songs are strong and his voice as seductive as ever.Faves here, well where do I start ? The first single Where Are We Running, I don`t want to be a star , the rocky California, the groovy Sistamamalover, Calling all angels, and the bonus gem Uncharted Terrain found only on the Japanese release of the L.P. This has hardly budged from my stereo and when I`m in the car I yank it out and play it on the road too. A marvellous return to form from a very gifted musician.
Music Review: We lost him since 2001 and this album does not redeem him Rating: 2 Stars
I had hopes, I must admit. I really wanted Lenny Kravitz to rediscover deep inside him that long lost feel that he captured us with back in the days of his first few albums, all the way to the grand '5' from 1999. But so life goes... After his 2000 Greatest Hits release it all went downhill, and 'Baptism' is not doing much to redeem him from his sin: to deprive music lovers of the world from the great music he's capable of. I honestly don't give the album one star, because all creative efforts entail enough work to be worth something, but there's so much more potential in Lenny that I can only be dissapointed at this album. Quite simply, don't buy it!
Music Review: What the funk happened to you?! Rating: 1 Stars
Someone call the police, someone has stolen Lenny's "soul" I think Lenny is slowly morphing into a teenage white boy from the suburbs, because his music certainly sounds like all the crap that's been on the radio and MTV for the last 5 years or so. Where'd the funk go? At his best, I always though Lenny was a perfect hybrid of Jimmy Hendrix, Prince, and a little bit of Paul Stanley circa 1970's KISS, but I think he has now become a parody of himself. "Fly Away" becoming a hit was the worst thing to happen to him, because everything he's done since is trying to emulate that. This CD will make a good coaster.
Music Review: So So Rating: 3 Stars
First of all, Im a huge Kravitz fan, I have all his albums ooops, did I say that, I meant cds. I love his throwback, late 60's-7o's funky/rock/soul style. But I am sad to say that Baptism did not impress me that much, like his earlier stuff did. Sure, there are a couple of songs I dig on Baptism, but as a whole, I have to say I dont like it all. I like Sistamammalover, and R and R Minister. That Angel song bored me to death. I had to skip it and go to the next song, because the first time I was listening to it, I was driving, and almost fell asleep. Baptism is not his best. Come on Lenny, get back to that funky/soulful stuff you do so well...
