Music Reviews of I Hope You DanceMusic Review: Just a Simple Little Review Rating: 4 Stars
I'm not one much for going on about the particulars of why I do or do not like an album or a song. Bottom line, I either like it, or I don't. I like this. Lee Ann's voice is great. And these songs are great. "I Hope You Dance" is, of course, a beautiful song....but when I heard "Does My Ring Burn Your Finger", it blew me away. It's a good old fashioned country song, which she belts out in good old fashioned country style, and makes no apologies. And if you're thinking of starting a country music collection, this disc is a good place to start.
Music Review: I Hope You Dance Rating: 1 Stars
Mostly listening to pop and some rock, I've been listening to country music off and on. I liked the singer's voice and the lyrics to "I Hope You Dance" so I tried buying this CD. After listening to this CD for the first time, I started laughing; nearly all the songs were depressing. I've heard country music can be depressing but I didn't expect nearly the whole CD to be depressing. The title track is the only song I liked. (For comparison, I liked three songs from Kevin Sharp's Measure of a Man CD, my only other country CD).
Music Review: One word! Rating: 5 Stars
This song, to sum it up is INSPIRATIONAL! "I hope you dance" is one of those few songs that make you stop and think about life. However, Lee Ann has put it in such a BEAUTIFUL way that will bring a tear to your eye time after time, and if it doesn't, you can't be human! The film clip is just as good! (Are the children her own??) Keep going Lee Ann, and never lose sight of what's important in life....you are the most beautiful person in the world! Such an inspiration to all of your fans and even people who are not! Keep it up!
Music Review: It May be "Countrypolitian" But it's Good! Rating: 4 Stars
Like the Amazon reviewer said, it is maybe slicker than "hardcore" country, but I disagree with those who say it's not a country CD. Lee Ann has too much twang in her voice to ever sound too pop, and the intelligent song selection here perfectly matches her pristine vocals. Most of the songs are mid-tempo or ballads and many of them are not immediately catchy in an annoying way; you need to listen a few times until they sink in, which is fine with me. Rodney Crowell's "Ashes by Now" is one exception. It rocks.
Music Review: A BREATH OF FRESH AIR! Rating: 3 Stars
Leann Womack has got to be one of the most good looking country artists I have ever seen. I think this CD is the start for her to really make a name for herself in Nashville. Womack is like a breath of fresh air with inspirational fresh original sounding music. She does not sound copied. She has some really good sweet songs like "I hope you dance" which is great another kind of tune that also will get you moving will be "Ashes by now" which sounds great and every sog has a point to it adn its jut a great cd overall
