Music Review: Uhhhh What Happened?

Wow! I really don't know how to say this because I absolutely Looove Ledisi. I appreciated her earthy soul..acoustic soul..so much of what I thought would become a staple of who I THOUGHT she was, similar to Dwele, Rahsaan, Lalah and India. Not that she would ever try to be them but you know, when you group things in families...they would be her cousins! (LOL!) Please pardon my lack of savvy word choices but I just gotta be real! You KNOW when you like something...it makes you smile, bob your head and move your hips. You don't turn up your nose, squinch your eyebrows and scratch your forehead!
This album had too much goin on...I could not follow it. It did open and close the same...and for me I would push next as quick as I do when I become tired of CD #2 in my 6 disc CD changer of my car!
Highlights - "Higher Than This" and "Say No"...and really..I am going to "SAY NO" to purchasing this one. Absolutely too much synthesizing for me. Who needs it? She compliments acoustic instruments so well. If I were her I would CAPITALIZE on that ALLLL DAY! For recordings..she is Jazz, Soul and Gospel. I can't take the Rock vibe. Save it for the live shows and surprise us like Musiq and Jill manage to do very well! It just doesn't translate well on speakers!
Her debut Lost and Found was a masterpiece. She could stand on that for years. (I actually just pulled it out yesterday) It would have been nice if she would have just made us wait a little longer until she really got the "Fit" but if that ol' skool rock is what she "Found"..then maybe I was "Lost!"
