Music Review: Leviathan: The crowning glory of Leahy

Then we get to "Leviathan," the best song Leahy has ever done, IMO. It is breathtaking, grand, and so climactic. It is the kind of style that starts out slow and builds until it reaches the height of the drama! When done right, this technique is spectacular. (When done wrong it is dull, but that is beside the point.) I find it odd that this song was never released, or even sampled.

After Leviathan, "Don't let me Down" is next. The highlight of this song is the echo-y vocals, which add a small element of eeriness. "A Love Never Known" follows, which is the only song that doesn't hold the same energy as the rest of the album. The G Minor Melody proceeds, which ties for second place in my ranking. It starts out slow, and then does a complete melody and key change with the fiddle all while getting faster and faster, which is one of my favorite techniques, as I'm sure you can tell. Another vocal track is next, called "Borrowed Time." That is my favorite voice song, for the chorus and lyrics have great depth. The harmony is also beautiful. "Stand Up" is the next song, which is the most dancy and peppy. Lastly, and this song is my other second favorite, is "The Skater." "The Skater" jumps around a lot, for it is appropriately named, and in the breath-holding interlude, Donnell brings the notes up higher...and higher...and higher until it sounds like a whistle. Very suspenseful.

This is a fantastic CD, surpassing even their first, for it has a more full sound, as well as more variance. The lyrics are simple, and are sometimes cliche, but they aren't nearly as bad as what is passing off as popular music in some other genres. The singer lady has a wonderful voice; it is very natural. I also echo Deet's sentiments: Singing lessons my foot!
