Music Review: HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT

OK, we all know that korn is changing..we know it for sure since their last album, See You On The Other Side. Until that album, i loved every single song/album korn has done. everything, from the first self titled album to the rocking Take a Look In The Mirror.
SYOTOS was different, wierd metalic sounds..uneven rythem...but it had a few kickass songs (the extremely cool twisted transistor, open up, coming undone, liar, politics...), in short, as an album it was very good, but as a KORN album, it pretty much sucked (if they had the brains to include some kickass songs from the bonus cd in the reguler version, it would have been 10 times better).
Later on they did the UNplugged show, which to me was pretty cool...
So now comes this Untitled album (as usual, amazing cover and album art), With SLIPKNOT's drummer Joey Jordison replacing David Silveria which is in hiatus. at first, when i heard the first single Evolution, i really really went crazy, a very good song with a very cool rythem (and video!!), the bad news is, it was the same reaction i had when i heard Twisted Transistor.
yup, all of you korn fans who hoped that Evolution is a sign that KoRn r returning back to basics, you got it all wrong. You can pretty much say they continue the line of SYOTOS...but worse..much much worse...it does has its moments with great songs, some even kicksass..but it just won't cut.
i will now rate each song on the new album:
1. "Intro" - not much to rate..nice piano sound....
2. "Strating Over" 7/10 - starts very bad and improves towards the and.
3. "Bitch We Got A Problem" 3/10 - I'll give it a 3 because this is the best title for a korn song...and too bad this song really really sucks.
4. "Evolution" 9/10 - What a great song..very good rythem, the video is brilient.
5. "Hold On" 10/10 - Now thats the korn i want!!!!!! kickass song and without a doubt the best one in the album.
6. "Kiss" 5/10 - The chorus is very nice, and thats the only good in this song.
7. "Do What They Say" 4/10 - No rythem what so ever, but again, strong chorus.
8. "Ever Be" 10/10 - A stunning epic rock opera...John's voice is absolutely amazing in this one. great and exhilarating chorus. good job korn!!!
9. "Love and Luxory" 8/10 - This song shows how korn has changed. you can almost say it's pop..but the rythem is great..cool song.
10. "Innocent Bystander" 5/10 - Some nice riffs in this one...but not much more.
11. Killing 6/10 - Starts very strong with a solid heavy riff...but its all down hill from there.
12. Hushabye 1/10 - It Sucks, Period.
13. I Will Protect You 5/10 - No Good....maybe some good riffs and the bag pipes remember to come back.
So for Cunclusion, a very big disappointment, the worst KoRn album to date. They can do so much better, i just saw them live online in a free gig they did in NY, they were insane. No doubt, to me they r still the best live band out there. If they will only take a little break and stop making new albums every 2 minutes, they might redeem themselves, and im 100% sure that korn will come back big time, louder, heavier, and oldschool-er than ever!!!

"Hold On" and "Do What They Say" come off as soggy sonic oatmeal; "Kiss" channels a very dark Smashing Pumpkins to mixed results; "Bitch We Got a Problem" gives away its best stuff in the title; "Innocent Bystander" and "Starting Over" have three or four great ideas that never reach fruition and the rest of the album ("Killing," "Hushabye") proves fairly forgettable, a sign that Korn may be closer to crumbling than anyone could have imagined. That's too bad 'cause time was it had the makings of a pretty good American band. ??Jedd Beaudoin
