Music Review: Successful Debut

The Kenoly Brothers bring an unheard groove to Contemporary Gospel with "All the Way," using today's R&B/Soul synthesized sound and sweet melodies to take the listener to a totally different world of thinking. Though the production is great and the lyrics are meaningful, both seem to lead into the boring edge if you aren't a vocal stylist lover. The boys voices are soft, smooth, and sometimes are utilized to create brief and beautiful ad libs. At times the voices are the only thing to listen to..as the background track will not blink throughout a whole half of a song. But the album has it's times of greatness, for example: "All the Way," the title track..very nicely done. Also the radio friendly "All About You" brings us back to the original great R&B, like Boyz II Men and Brian McKnight seem to bring time and time again. "It Feels So Good" could be the best uptempo track on the project, as a synthesized talkbox presents a whole new, and joyous feeling to the song...and then there's "Hold On," activating only an acoustic piano and vocals that's reminiscent of K-Ci & JoJo or Brian McKnight.Aside from debut mistakes, such as lengthy repetitions and often elementary lyrics, the Kenoly Brothers have started something that The Winans Phase II are also attempting- mix today's great R&B with positive christian lyrics and a heartfelt meaning.
