Music Reviews of All I Ever Wanted

Music Review: Don't worry, Kelly, we ARE listening!
Rating: 5 Stars

What can I say ? All I Ever Wanted is definitely all I ever wanted in a pop/rock album. It is another great achievement from Kelly, and she managed to do it differently, again! The album is fresh, innovative and don't sound like her previous albums, even though there are some similarities. This CD has everything to go platinum. First of all, we have Kelly's superb vocals. Second, really catchy tunes and chorus in all the songs. There are also beautiful and inspiring lyrics. Diversity is another factor I have to pinpoint since the songs are very different from one another and they are arranged in a line between hard pop/rock and ballads. So, mix a little bit of everything and that's All I Ever Wanted.

I can say I loved all the songs but if I was to choose the release of the singles I'd choose my favorites, which are:
- My Life Would Suck Without You
- Don't Let Me Stop You
- Already Gone
- If I Can't Have You
- Impossible

I give this CD 10/10.

Long live Kelly!!! :D

Music Review: Best female vocalist out there
Rating: 5 Stars

Truthfully, see JR Gonzalez's review on 03/10/09. It's quite spot on for each song! Yes, the Katy Perry penned songs are easily identifiable but wouldn't we rather have Kelly sing them than Katy? I bought the deluxe version so there are two extra songs and I must say, if you can, buy it over the regular version.

15. Tip of My Tongue, 5 stars, a more intense style, reminds me number 11 Impossible
16. The Day We fell Apart, 3.5 stars, I liked it, very dance clubby

9. Whyyawannabringmedown -- ** UPDATE, DANG SONG HAS GROWN ON ME ** well it's truly the only song I can't stand. It brings to mind Tia Carerre in Wayne's World.

Special note - Song #13 I Want You - This is the most annoyingly happy song you'll ever get stuck in your head. It's very bubble-gummy and joyful but you'll want to write it off at the first listening but it has other ideas and you'll find yourself humming it all day long, singing with your dog's name in the lyrics, bobbing your head in the car...

Music Review: Decent, but ultimately forgettable
Rating: 3 Stars

I love Kelly Clarkson, and her albums have been getting better and better since her debut, Thankful. Sadly, that trend stops with All I Ever Wanted. I thought the previous album, My December, was nothing short of a masterpiece. The songs on that album had real meaning, and shows a side of Clarkson that no one thought was there. For that moment, she was a real artist, and the music sounded full and relevant. All I Ever Wanted returns her to the pop cheese of Breakaway, but with much more filler. This album certainly has its moments ("Impossible" definitely stands out as the best track on here), but there are so many cheesy hooks and so much cookie-cutter production, that it's hard to take this album seriously. The different styles mish-mashed together sound really clumsy at times.

It seems her record label, having seen My December's less-than-stellar performance, forced Clarkson to appeal to the 13-year old crowd. That's a real shame. It was definitely her greatest album...

Music Review: A solid release which is sure to satisfy fans
Rating: 4 Stars

Kelly Clarkson is delivered from the dark ages, so to speak, with her new release All I Ever Wanted. The album, decidedly more mainstream, will appeal to the masses with its radio-friendly tracks: "My Life Would Suck," "I Do Not Hook Up," and "If I Can't Have You." Would I consider this a definitive follow-up to Breakaway? The answer is a resounding, "YES!!" Hitmakers Katy Perry and Kara DioGuardi have joined Kelly in writing some very fun yet personal tracks. Furthermore, the production comes off much more polished and professional compared to My December. All I Ever Wanted takes a giant leap in developing Kelly's maturity as an artist while maintaining mainstream appeal and sing-in-your-car friendly tunes. My major criticism is reserved for the ballads. Unfortunately, she fails to recapture the "Because of You" beauty with her slower numbers--instead, the tracks drag on a bit too long and fail to establish a deep impression. Overall, a solid release which is sure to satisfy fans. B+

Music Review: Back to the Top She Goes
Rating: 5 Stars

I'll be honest, the first time I listened to the whole cd I said, "ummm, what was that?!" I actually set the cd aside and went back to it about 3 hours later and listened to the whole thing again. This is a VERY GOOD cd. There is a different sound to some of these songs, for example, "I'm Ready" reminds me of something from the past and I can visualize the video of her walking and dancing in a '50's downtown setting. It took a few listens to like this song but I do. This cd is more "pop-ish" BUT she certainly continues with the "rocker-chick" side of her with songs like,"My Life Would Suck Without You", "I Do Not Hook Up", "Long Shot", and the title track, "All I Ever Wanted". There's no doubt Kelly Clarkson will have at least 5 radio hits off this album with the potential for more than that. I believe she will continue her reign as the most successful Idol Alum with the release of this album. If you like Kelly Clarkson you need to buy this cd. It really is worth the $13 I spent.
