Music Reviews of Legs to Make Us LongerMusic Review: I recommend this cd to everone Rating: 5 Stars
I was watching vh1 hits the other day which has an occasional good song once and a while and I saw kaki king "playing with pink noise" and I was amazed. It might not be the most original sound in the world, but most music out there is mostly unoriginal anyway. Nevertheless she is a very talented artist that gives of a feeling of freshness and calm when she plays. I hope that anyone who comes this site will support her music and buy this cd.
Music Review: Excellent album... Rating: 5 Stars
I had never heard of Kaki King before today when a friend gave me "Legs to Make Us Longer". I was skeptical but, after several listenings, love the album.
I particularly like "My Insect Life" but can NOT figure out why there is a 45 second gap with nothing but silence right in the center of the cut... From 5 minutes until 5:43. Makes no sense. Is my CD defective? Otherwise, the sound quality is excellent.
Music Review: KAKI IS KING OF STYLE Rating: 5 Stars
man o man kaki king is incredible she plays a very unique style that no composer or musician can describe its not conformed in any way shape or form, yet still very original and daring she doest just make music out of her guitar she expresses life and her experience and creates a true to life beautifully compelling sound. That said she inherself is an accomplishment, keep inspiring!!!!
Music Review: If I could give lower, I would Rating: 1 Stars
Never in the history of the instrument has anyone this amateurish gotten this much exposure.
Unlike Michael Hedges, who added a percussive style to an existing musical foundation, King, like Preston Reed, show only novel skills and no depth of musical understanding.
In layman's terms, Kaki King, creates nothing more than noise with her guitar.
Music Review: Either You Get Her Or You Don't Rating: 5 Stars
I find a great deal of substance in these compositions. I must say that anyone who passes over this album claiming that it's just another collection of technical exercises simply doesn't get the artist. A brilliant album in my humble opinion. Perhaps for those with keener depth perception. Kaki King's work is much more than the sum of her skills.
