Music Review: Buy This Instead of The Movie Highlights

The new movie "Rent" has brought a ton of new fans and listeners and lovers of this musical. On this CD is virtually every song that was in the movie- so if your a fan of the movie looking for more bang for your buck- I'd buy this CD. Most of the characters are included that were in the movie with- the expection of Rossario Dawson.
"Rent" is a musical all about coming to terms with your life- highs and lows, struggles, and feelings of wanting "something more" Rent is a true gift from creator Jonathon Larson. And is probably the LAST good dramatic musical on Broadway. The show has been running for ten years on Broadway and it's easy to see why it has the following it has... The lyrics read out like something that comes from the heart and is beautiful "Forget regret or life is yours to miss..." it's something we ALL need to do in our lives.
The show takes place at the height of the American drug culture, HIV/AIDS scare, the new found openess with sexuality, and the height of creation-when every New Yorker was a struggling artist. You follow the lives and struggles of five artists as they deal with very real issues- paying rent, while struggling to make a living out of the arts. While also fall in and out of love and dealing with the AIDs virus when it was virtually a FATAL diease.
There is not a single bad track on this CD and I'm sure anyone on your holiday list would enjoy it in their stocking. My personal favorite songs "One Song Glory"(better version then the one in the movie), "Via Boheme A". "Will I", and the INSPIRATIONAL "Finale B" which makes anyone examine how they have lived their life. I would definately hit the buy now button and be AMAZED by the power of "Rent."
