Music Review: A decent 'summary' of Foreman's EPs
Rating: 4 Stars
For people who prefer Cliff's Notes or even watching the movie version rather than reading classic literature, this album will suffice. However, rather than getting just a summary of Jon Foreman's 4 outstanding EPs (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer), I recommend that you go out and buy the actual EPs that these songs are from. Then, download the two bonus tracks for a buck apiece.
This album has a couple of songs from each of the first 3 EPs, and 4 from the final one (Summer). There are so many great songs NOT on this album, that I suppose this works as a way to entice people to buy the actual EPs. I do enjoy the two new songs (Broken from the Start and Over the River), though I would not place them among the 12 best songs that he has released over the course of the past year or so.
If you only have enough money for one album this year, this is the one you should spend it on. But if you can afford more than this, definitely purchase all 4 EPs. They are filled with creative, acoustic, multi-instrument, simple-yet-elegant songs, which are sung passionately and will definitely leave you with food for thought. Jon Foreman, the lead vocalist of Switchfoot, has definitely shown the world that he's got a real gift for writing and performing music to inspire a generation!
