Music reviews of JojoMusic Review: Simply put : One of the worst teen albums of the year. Rating: 1 Stars
SHE DIDN'T EVEN DO THE SINGING ON THIS ALBUM. IT IS COPMUTERIED. WHEN SHE SINGS LIVE YOU CAN HEAR HER REAL VOICE WHICH ISN'T TOO BAD BUT COMPUTERIED IT'S HORRIBLE. WHEN SHE WAS ON "American Dreams" SHE DID HER OWN SINGING.
When I first heard her music I was like "This must be some new song by Kirvakka, Ashcat, Hilary Duff, or Maykarnaka so its cool". I must not of been thinking, I heard the DJ say "that was leave get out by Jojo and I was like "isn't jojo that guy from Kci & Jojo?" so I called the radio station and asked them to play it again and I noticed something if you listen to her voice carefully enough it isn't a person singing its a girl's voice put into the computer and edited to sound ok
my track reviews:
1. Breezy - Its ok i guess. - Its about a girl who's trying to get another girls boyfriend. Says she's the one who knows him the best, she's his one nothing less, and that she has him on lock. A 13 year old with a boyfriend and saying she's his one? Yikes.
2. Baby Its You - Pretty good I guess. - A little mature for her age but it has that I want you for you kind of theme and basically repeats every line.
3. Not That Kinda Girl - Its ok for a young teen. - She helped write this one which says she's not your every day girl, she needs to know how a guy rolls before she'll be his girl and to show her something she can steal. She helped write it yet it still says to show her something she can steal? Wow the kids either honest or stupid. *Note* Some think it says "Show me something I can feel" others think it says "Show me something I can steal".
4. The Happy song - Its ok - A true slow love song. It says that he makes her happy and she hopes they'll grow up become more mature and still be together. Isn't she a little young to say that?
5. Homeboy - A good song. - It can be related to by different age groups because it says she has a crush on her homeboy and she thinks the guy wants to be her baby. On the other end the bridge is kind of stupid and not needed in the song.
6. City lights - This is a song? - This "song" says that its on tonight, says she is high, says she's open wide, feels like she's on medication, all she see's is red lights, blue lights, green lights, street lights then goes back to the "its on its on its on tonight".
7. Leave (Get Out) - Not too bad - Catchy, dance, not straight up pop but its getting there. She sang the song and it was released as a single before she had ever had a boyfriend so pretty good for a song she hadn't been able to witness first hand before.
8. Use my shoulder - Its okay - Says that her friend can cry on her shoulder and can lay on her pillow. She trys to tell what friends are for and asks whats bothering her friends happiness. Repetitive and a little stupid.
9. Never Say Goodbye - Its ok - It basically says she doesn't want the guy to ever leave and now that he's there there won't be any more crying. It says that she never had someone to care for, she never thought someone could be special to her, says she's in love cuz she waited patiently. If you couldn't telll its another love song.
10. Weak - Its ok I guess, NOT NEAR AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL BY SWV - She doesn't know what he's done to her to make her act in a crazy way, her resistance is down, she gets weak in the knees with his presence, her heart beats triple time when she thinks about loving him and he's the cause and cure for all of it, he's also the reason she can hardly speak.
11. Keep on Keepin' On - Horrible - She wrote it, and it talks about how things will get better for you eventually. You can't be certain things will get better just that they usually do. Says poor kids poor cold water on their cereal "You got to work with what you got and someday you will fly". Doesn't she know people can't fly?
12. Sunshine - Pretty dang bad - She asks the guy guy if he'll be her sunshine and says no one compares to him. She says "You'll always be my sunshine, you make all my dreams come true and thats why you'll always be mine sunshine"
13. Yes or No - Good - Very repetitive but good lyrics. She says that waiting for his call doesn't help things, he has a girl which he says he's going to shut out, she thinks he's running her mouth, she can't be on hold, and says "its jojo in the place to be and i got what it takes to rock ya like right yeah still got to see what u got so times runnin out"
14. FairyTales - Not too good - Says she used to believe in love and fairytales but she doesn't anymore because her heart got crushed by a guy. A storys supposed to end happy she can't go on believing in it she has to figure it out for herself. She don't believe in much

CD: I think its ok for people aged 8 and younger except has spots where lyrics are too mature for under 13, 14 or 15
Singer: I think she isn't very good
Album: It could be way better. Her demo album which was released in 2002 sounded way better, for a few reasons like she did her own singing on it.
It showcases: Her ability to sing very repetitive songs, sing horrible low but sing kinda good high, and write songs that are written poorly.
I rated it 1 star because its not very good and her voice is still weak.
What she could have done better: Sing in a higher manner, not sound so weak AND DO HER OWN SINGING!!!

Description of JojoImport pressing of the urban/pop act's 2004 debut album includes bonus track 'Baby It's You feat. Bow Wow. Edel. Few will accuse JoJo of being a musical revolutionary--hers is a streetwise, modern R&B sound that owes a lot to Destiny's Child and a little to opposite-ends-of-the-genre artists Angie Stone and Aaliyah--but there is a freshness about her. This, on mulling it over, is a quality that's hard to miss when you're 13. Those who haven't ventured beyond the radio hit "Leave (Get Out)," though, will want to take this self-titled debut for a spin if only to be among the first to discover an artist who's figured out how to effectively blend innocence with attitude. It's not the lyrics but the delivery that grabs hold and gives way to compulsory head-bobbing: JoJo may not be "That Kinda Girl," as we learn three tracks in, but instead of putting her point across shyly, peppering the song with flirty vocal question marks, we half-expect her to tell us to step off. The same expert ferociousness fuels "Baby It's You," which embraces sincerity--love for all the right reasons--and power-kicks materialism to the curb. It's not always the case that you can judge a CD by its cover, but with JoJo there's no harm in projecting. Sulking from inside her plastic cover, the artist seems at once woebegone and willful, menacing and mopey. Pop scenesters will do well to keep watching. --Tammy La Gorce
