Music Review: Gorgeous and spectacular

English is not my mother tongue. So I will try to give my opinion in a few words. After a phenomenal debut recording in 2004 (on Favored Nations FN 2390-2 with Steve Vai as executive producer), this second opus is quite different. First of all, IMHO, the sound is better (instruments are more well defined) than the sound of his previous CD which was too narrow or confined to my taste (what a bizarre sound engineering!). Entitled 'Loud and Proud', Johnny Hiland Band's CD contains simple but catchy instrumentals more 'hard-rock' guitar oriented plus some nice ballades and good-time country flavored 'chicken pickin' fingers... and an imcomparable interpretation of the classic 'Mercury Blues' (one of the four titles sung by Johnny Hiland). More gorgeous 'juice' than ever from Hiland's guitar!!! A great CD by one of my favorite guitar superheroes... with, of course, Danny Gatton, Roy Buchanan, Gary Moore, the Hellecasters (John Jorgenson,Will Ray, Jerry Donahue), Hendrix and Beck.
