Music Reviews of American VI: Ain't No GraveMusic Review: Cash Rating: 4 Stars
It is hard for me to not give Johnny Cash 5 stars because he is one of my all-time favorites, but just not enough really good songs on here to make it worthy of 5 star. This album is a must have though mainly for the title track. "Ain't No Grave" is a must have song. If this is the last new material we will ever get from Johnny Cash it is a good way to end the "American" series.
Music Review: magnificent! Rating: 5 Stars
This CD is the crown at Cash his work. The songs are moving without being sentimental. Although Cash his voice is weak, the songs are statements which stand like a mountain.
He is looking forward to go to his heavenly father. This desire he shares in a very honest way.
Listening to this CD made me smile, cry and thankful. Cash has something very important to say!
Music Review: Johnny Cash offers another solid album Rating: 5 Stars
Once again, Johnny Cash releases an album that's both haunting and an expression of the joys of life. It's a fitting final release and reminds us of the great talent we lost with Johnny died. The instrumentation is appropriately bare as we've come to expect from the American Recordings series and have a real emotional draw.
Rock oh Johnny, rock on.
Music Review: Sparse but beautiful Rating: 5 Stars
What a fitting epitaph to the career of Johnny Cash. It's obvious to both the listener and to Mr. Cash that death is his constant companion through these recordings. But unlike most of us, this doesn't even seem to phase the Man in Black. Instead of fearing death, he embraces it thereby mastering it. We all could learn a lot from Johnny.
Music Review: Another Masterpiece!! Rating: 5 Stars
Another masterpiece from Johnny and Rick Rubin. Sorry this has to be the last album. Much thanks to Rick Rubin's for recognizing Johnny's superb talent even late in life and recording all of the materials for the American Recordings albums.
'Ain't No Grave', 'Redemption Day', and 'Aloha Oe' were particularly great.
