Music Review: MTV-Invented Michael Schenker/Edward Van Halen Wannabe

While a truly great, original guitar player like Michael Schenker was being practically ignored by the MTV and the radio in the '80's, his weak clones like Kirk Hammett and Joe Satriani were being pushed.
Why is a complete mystery to this day. Neither of the clones have contributed anything creative to the Rock/Metal guitar world, whereas Schenker remains with Ritchie Blackmore as probably the most easily identifiable guitar player in Rock history.
Forgetting that, one should go buy Michael Schenker Group's "Assault Attack" instead of this, since at least three quarters of "Surfing With the Alien" is (guitar-wise) stolen from that album. In fact, just pay particular attention to the song "Ulcer" of of "Assault Attack" and hear the basic sound that Satriani used to base his whole career on.
Two stars for the obviously advanced legato acrobatics.
To finish, an unintentionally hilarious Satriani quote: "I've always got Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Wes Montgomery and Miles Davis sitting on my shoulder, whispering to me."
Maybe he should wear a hat more often under those bright lights.
