Music reviews of You & Me

Music Review: BONAMAZEPPELIN!!!!
Rating: 5 Stars

Well its got mighty strong Zep flavors and its all good (bona) and all Bonamassa, therefore my best description is Bonamzeppelin! We enter new glory days!!!
If you don't know Joe, this is the perfect place to start. Like I recently read on Joe's official site jbonamassa dot com, most new fans testify they seek out and own the entire collection as soon as their wallet allows after experiencing Joe for the first time.
While Bridge to Better Days is a bit more of my rockin style than the rest, and with Pat Thrall adding to the guitar and it is my second favorite song of all time, I can't decide what song is my favorite on the cd. That doesn't make total sense I know but what I mean is everytime I listen I usually go straight to track 2 for personal inspiration but as I play the cd thru, including going back to track 1, I find myself diggin each song just as much.

The song Asking Around For You is worth more than the price of the cd and is truly a song for EVERYONE. I will not be suprised to see this song win multiple awards.I have been needing a song like this and didn't even realize it until I heard it. It provides healing that no other song can. When I hear it and Joe singing about tapping an angel on the shoulder and asking around for you if he gets to heaven, I get an emotional overload. There's a few loved ones passed on I can't wait to get a chance to sit around and talk a while with - and I am not even sure I beleive in Heaven! Damn if this song doesn't make me want to beleive. The beautiful music adds to the happy hopeful feeling and how this song helps me control my grief. the cd will be a gift to a couple women I know who became widows this year. I don't know if Joe's Blues will become their favorite but I beleive this song will make them feel good. I can't wait until WLIF gets the cd in their catalog, I predict nightly requests on the nite lite...

Anyway, Joe's cover for Tea for One is outstanding and the mixing (if thats the proper term) is exquisite. Joe's solo is mind blowing but well accompanied by Doug Henthorn's guest singing. The drums on this one have my heart pounding in unison with them after about the first 35 seconds. That natural rhythm is not something I beleive one can set out to duplicate. Bonham's got it in him. The sound here adds to the blues theme, the song defines the description "heavy Blues". Jason Bonham on drums is only one part of why I call this music Bonamazeppelin. Tea for One, Palm Trees Helicopters and Gasoline, and Torn Down all give me the Zep power. Joe does it justice. Joe brings us once again the mighty music we deserve! Rock and Roll will NEVER end with his heavy blues contributions!!!
Your Funeral, My Trial is hot hot hot and fast fast fast with Monster talent Master LD Miller on harmonica! Thanks LD!!!
I Don't Beleive is so catchy I find myself singing it like Joe everytime the phrase "I don't beleive" comes up in casual conversation. Speaking of Joe's singing, man he's a pro. Loving it on this CD, my favorite part is when he sings in Bridge to Better Days about his friends helping him but Tamp Em Up solid, is a great example of pure beauty in voice. I don't really understand the lyrics but the whole song is beautifully comforting.
Oh yeah Torn Down is the the truth buddy, laid out in killer Joe guitar groove. Jumpin Jane wants to tell you something and I'll let Joe do it for me when I play Torn Down, I won't be! I won't be torn down! " I would say thats in the top few of favorite tunes but then where would So Many Roads go? I guess the songs on this cd are unratable compared to each other. So Many Roads isn't a Joe original but you would never know as once again Joe makes this cover all about him and about his guitar and helping me through the blues of choosing my paths (roads) in life while ripping my mind apart with the solos.
This cd is also named for Joe's fans, how cool is that? Thanks Joe. This cd provides new material for me but all your music has truly improved my overall happiness because its so good, makes me feel great and is just what I need.
Peace,
Jane

Description of You & Me

A powerful fusion of the "big rock sound" and swampy blues, You & Me gets much of its inspiration from such masters as Peter Green, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and John Lee Hooker. Bonamassa delivers all the excitement and power of his electrifying live performances while mixing it up with dynamic music choices; from hard to soft, electric to acoustic, a music roller coaster seldom achieved by recording artists today.

You & Me also marks the debut collaboration of Bonamassa and producer Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, The Black Crowes, Aerosmith, Joe Satriani). Says South African-born Shirley: "When I was approached to work with Joe, I already knew he was an awesome talent, but I also knew I?d want to do something a little different from a straight blues album. There are a lot of very good blues players performing copycat versions of classics. I wanted more of a rock sound, and I wanted Joe to showcase his depth and versatility; his vocals as well as his incredible guitar playing."

Highlights include: "Asking Around For You," a classy, poignant bluesy ballad a la Ray Charles; "Django," a Jeff Beck-flavored tribute to Django Reinhardt; "High Water Everywhere," a grungy, Delta blues tribute to the recently devastated city of New Orleans; "So Many Roads," a blues classic made famous by legend Otis Rush; and "Tea For One," a lesser known Led Zeppelin song which has been embellished with full orchestra ? featuring Jason Bonham on drums.
