Music Review: More Classical Music Than Classical Guitar

Upfront it is critically important to state that I absolutely LOVE classical guitar--specifically acoustic guitar--and this CD compilation, while impressively "classical" is NOT classical guitar in the sense I expected. There is far more violin and orchestra represented than guitar music. It's difficult, in fact, to discern guitar emphasis in most of the individual selections in the first several CDs. That said, it's nice background, mellow music. This is not to say I'm opposed to classical music, and in fact appreciate a wide variety of composers. It's simply that I expected FAR more guitar than this collection seems to highlight. Fortunately, I like instrumental music as a whole and classical music in its own right. My rating would have been less otherwise. As a collection of classical music, this is better than adequate. If you are expecting classical GUITAR... well... this isn't your CD collection. At the price, it's certainly reasonable for anyone who appreciates mellow, instrumental backrounds.

Please note I'm NOT a classical music expert. I know many composers by sound/tempo, and yet had expected something... well.. more overall GUITAR in this purchase. What can I say? I have a weakness for serious acoustic guitarists.
