Music Review: Praising the Arranger

I am so thrilled to discover that this wonderful CD is still in print. Like a few other almost-empty-nesters, our two children went to sleep to Lullaby Magic for years. We first had a cassette, and by the time it had worn out, the collection had been issued on CD - we got copies for all our little nieces & nephews.
That said, I take very strong exception to the bio-blurb above, especially the completely wrong assertion that the disc is carried by Ms Bartel's "enchanting" (or whatever) voice. While she has a perfectly nice but unremarkable voice, the real star of Lullaby Magic is Ken Collins, the arranger; and in fact to call him "the arranger," as though he were just some studio hack, does him great disservice, so consistently inventive & creative are his settings.
I noticed this immediately after we got that first cassette, and also sadly noted in the credits that the collection was "in memory of Ken Collins" - he apparently had died before it was released. I've Googled many times trying to get more information on this remarkable talent, but all I've turned up is that he apparently lived in San Francisco, may have been gay, and died too young. What a tragic waste.
Pardon my rant, but it never ceases to drive me up the wall - the public's obsession with the pretty face, the front-woman (or man)(and the labels' un-blushing pandering to it) while the real creative talent goes not only un-praised, but unremarked.
