Music Review: One of Jimmy's most underrated albums
Rating: 5 Stars
This album is often considered the brother album of Back at the Chicken Shack since it was recorded during the same session and same lineup, as well as simultaneousness released. Unfortunately Back at the Chicken Shack was so great that people tended to overlook this album because of that. Smith still provides some of his greatest jams with Midnight Special running at 10:00, one of his longer jams. It feels like an extension to Back at the Chicken Shack and continues the same style of Smith's organ and Turrentine's dirty sax. Of course, it isn't one of his best albums of all time, it still is a great album and deserves 5 stars for the all star lineup putting forth some cool jams. I really liked Smith's rendition of Basie's one o' clock jump which ends the album off strong.
