Music Review: So Dig...Music 5*/Pressing 2* Read on, Read on........

Ok, this is part two of my recent Hendrix Vinyl journey into never neverland.....
Part One was I bought this and Axis from Amazon and was absolutely FLOORED
by the fidelity of Axis, which I played first. But that pressing along with this current
Sony pressing (at RTI from what I've read) of 'Experienced', were pressed OFF CENTER
on side ONE. Also, Axis was warped enough to notice, NOT GOOD for an album marketed
as an Audiophile pressing. So I sent both of them back, got the replacements, and
believe it or not, both AGAIN, on side ONE, were way off center, even the label was off
big time. So, last week I sent them back again and this time Amazon elected to give me
a refund instead of possibly more defects.....I can't fault them for that. So......I started
perusing the "Net" and found multiple sites offering not only the current Hendrix VINYL
pressings, but the older MCA pressings (the label Experience Hendrix had distributing
the Hendrix catalog before switching over to Sony this year). And I found the MCA Pressed
Double 180 gram version (which emulates the cd with the 6 additional songs) version for a mere
$23 bucks! Now, with shipping and tax it came to $30 but I see this very version going
for over $35 without shipping and tax on other sites, BUT, the real story, that's
starting to evolve is this, The Current RTI Sony Vinyl issues, in my Experience, are pressed
OFF CENTER on side one. And some are also warped. This older pressing from MCA is
Flawless! Dead on flat, as Silent as you could ask for (excellent quality vinyl and pressing
from MCA) and Dead on Center!!! The Fidelity of this pressing is Superlative. It has the
sticker 'Back To Black' on the front, and as I go through this Vinyl Hendrix journey, I'm
learning as I go along, so I'm trying to pass on to you people out there what I've found.
And, this, in no way, is to sway people away from Amazon, they've been EXCELLENT in
the returns of the other pressings, hell, their not to blame for what has to be Poor
QA with whoever is pressing these albums up. I don't know if the MCA pressing is 'All
Analog", but I know what sounds good and that pressing sounds very very good.
Part three is going to be a review of the vinyl of 'Live At Berkley' 2nd show......and it's good!!

who has been re-bitten by the Analog bug.......
And can I appeal to Amazon to separate the reviews on the format their based on. It's ridiculous
to put 230 reviews for the cd version on a page where someone is interested in the vinyl version.
Oh, Btw......At Tone Controls FLAT....... this LP BLOWS AWAY the cd version (Experience Hendrix)-just INCRECIBLE!!!
