Music Review: Should NEVER Have Been Released!

Mr. Steinman is a outstanding composer. Although he is most famous for his songs recorded by Meat Loaf he has had an amazing career that has included songs recorded by other various artists. That being said, this recording effort has got to be one of the worst ideas in the history of the music industry. Never has a collection of such incredibly, amazing, show-stopping compositions been so horrendously sunk by poor performance. Mr. Steinman should stick to his composing and let others, especially Meat Loaf, sing his songs.
The biggest single problem with this album is that it was intended to be Meat Loaf's follow-up to "Bat Out of Hell". The project got bogged down because of Meat Loaf's personal problems and the strained relationship between Steinman and Meat Loaf. The point I am trying to make is that these songs were written for MEAT LOAF. Mr. Steinman, the incredibly talented composer that he is, by no means has any real singing talent. Many of these songs were later sung by Meat Loaf on later albums. All most people should have to do is compare the recordings and it will become obvious that pride and vanity must have been the primary motivators in the decision to release this disk. The best example of this is "Rock and Roll Dream Come True". Since there were no follow-ups,that I know of, to this recording I have to believe that Mr. Steinman may have reached a simular conclusion.
Again, Jim Steinman is one of the world's finest rock composers. However, if he runs into any more problems with an artist I hope he will resist the urge to take matters into his own hands.
