Music Review: MUST HAVE!!

First off, I'd like to say that Jessica Simpson is AMAZING!! She has never gotten the attention she deserves and I am so happy she's getting it now! "Irresistible" was a great album, no matter what anyone thinks. I love everything about her. She is such a wonderful role model to look up to, rather than Britney Spears, Pink, Jennifer Lopez, or as much as I love her Christina Aguilera. Jessica's third album is the best so far. This isn't her first time at writing, she co-wrote a song on "Sweet Kisses", but she wrote all but one song on here. This is, by far, the best album of 2003-2004. This edition comes with a bonus DVD of her and Nick's wedding and scenes from Newlyweds. Here's a breakdown of the songs.
1. Angels-5/5- I love this song. Never heard it until she recorded it. I love her voice in it. I don't understand why this isn't a bigger hit. She clearly blows others away. I like the video for this track too. She looks lovely as normal.
2. With You-5/5- This is a great song for couples in love. You can tell she's in love with Nick. This song was her first #1 on Billboard's Mainstream Charts. This song should have been #1 on Billboard's Hot 100. Great all around, from lyrics to the music.
3. Take My Breath Away-5/5- I love this remake. This song should have made it to #1, stalled at #20 on Billboard's Hot 100. Still a nice run. Her voice is wonderful throughout this song. Better than the first.
4. My Way Home-4/5- A good song. I believe this to be filler, but still a good song. I like her voice in this one.
5. Sweetest Sin-5/5- When the first issue of this album came out in August 2003, I ran to read People magazine's review. The reviewer said this was a "soft-porn" song!?! Have you heard of Madonna? In any case, Jessica waited to have sex, until marriage, like Joe Simpson, father/manager said, why not sing about it? This is a great song for married couples. Her voice is awesome throughout the song. Should have been a bigger hit, although, I would not have used it as the lead single. However, if Britney Spears sang this, it would have been huge, because people are more acceptable to Britney's sexy image.
6. I Have Loved You-5/5- This is one of the best songs off of this album. This should have been a single; this could have been #1!! I love Jessica's voice, the lyrics, the music, and the emotion. It is such a great song all around.
7. Forbidden Fruit-5/5- I love the music to this song. This is unlike any song Jessica has done. I love this song, her voice, everything!
8. Everyday See You-5/5- This is an easy-going, relaxed song. I love the way she uses her voice in this song. Great all around.
9. Underneath-5/5- One of the best songs on the album. Great lyrics. I really like this song. Jessica's 5-octave voice is beautiful.
10. You Don't Have To Let Go-5/5- This is a personal song. The lyrics are beautifully written. Jessica nails all the notes.
11. Loving You-5/5- Great laid back, but sensual song. The beat is great, lyrics are great. Wonderful song.
12. In This Skin-5/5- I must take aim at People magazine once more. They said this song was too much like "Beautiful" by the awesome Christina Aguilera. Yes, some qualities are similar, but Christina's talks about how no matter what others say, you are beautiful. Jessica's says you are beautiful in your own skin, no matter your appearance. Close in meaning, but different. It's personal for Jessica because of her ordeal in 2001 with her record company wanting her to lose weight, from 115lbs to 102lbs, as it says in the song. I hope whoever reviewed Jessica's CD has been fired.
13. Be-5/5- This is an awesome song. This should have been a single. This is clearly a personal song about her married life. The lyrics are beautiful. Great song, too bad it was overlooked. This would have been a smash single.
14. With You (Acoustic Version) - 4/5- I loved the original, but I have never been a fan of acoustic songs. I liked the music, however.
OVERALL----This is one of the best albums released in a long time. Great songs, great lyrics, and great meanings. The re-released version made it to #2 on the Billboard Album Charts. If the album would have been released a few weeks before it would have been #1 because Norah Jones' album hadn't been released yet. This album has sold close to 3 million copies and counting. It has had one of the biggest turn arounds in pop history. A few weeks after release, it had fallen to #127, then "With You" came out and it flew back up the charts. Her singles "With You" made it to #14 on Billboard's Hot 100 and "Take My Breath Away" went to #20. Even if you have the original, go buy this one too!! This is an awesome album, you MUST add it to your collection after you throw away Britney Spears' excuses for albums, you will thank me, trust me.
