Music Review: Sweet, fun, playful, good for the soul, joy on a disk

I borrowed this CD from our local library years ago. I loved it so much I wanted to encourage Jessica Harper to make more by actually paying for a copy (a crazy idea, I know). The songs are written and performed by her with cameos by her children. The songs are fun and bouncy with a jazz and reggae beat. The singing is playful and uplifting without being Raffi (and this isn't a negative dig against The Master himself). There is art and creativity here beyond trying to write music for children. She's writing music first, it just happens to be that her heart drives her to write it for children. I regularly keep a copy of the album on my iPod to listen to myself and it makes me smile. I think my favorite tracks are

* A Day in the Life of Elizabeth
