Music Review: Sexy, Romantic, Erotic, Soothing, Invigorating

In October 2009 I chanced to see Jesse Cook in Tucson, AZ. Words can hardly describe. It was clear the audience was 'old friends' with him, some driving 9 hours just to see him. He has a very easy rapport with the audience and spent some time answering questions.
Jesse is truly a master who surrounds himself with equally talented musicians. One of those events you want never to end. I bought two albums that night (Rhumba Foundation and Frontiers) and have since discovered he is prominent in Chris Spheeris' Mediterranean Cafe which I'd been playing near nonstop since I'd received it as a gift last summer [Listening to Flamenco is the PERFECT way to tour the Spanish Arabian Stanley Ranch).
I have since added JC's Tempest and Gravity and planning to get everything I can get my hands on.
I NEVER TIRE OF THIS MUSIC. While the layering of instruments and tempos yields complexity and depth, I none the less find the saucy and meditative numbers surprisingly equally relaxing.
There is something about this music that never ceases to pull on my soul. I listen to a broad range of styles: classical of every vein (Mozart, Bach, Chopin, Dvorzak), Manheim Steamroller, Country, 'ballard' singers including Hal Ketchum, Lisa Brokop, Jennifer Warner, Linda Ronstadt, Melissa Manchester, Carly Simon, Dan Fogelberg, hard rockers (Journey, Loverboy, Van Halen, Alice Cooper), celtic (Ilene Ivers and a slew of others), musicals, contemporary and classical church choir, Native American musicians,etc. etc.
Whatever my mood, whatever I need from music at a given moment, this man, this style, delivers.
