I got this CD in the beginning of April, and I have been captivated by it ever sense. The lyrics are wonderfully honest and the pop/rock music is fun to listen to.
The CD opens with "Blessed Be," a reminder from the Beatitudes that God will use and bless the broken and the weak. The CD get its title from this track. In fact, the first word we hear is "Loser."
The CD is permeated with songs about pain and weakness. "Weak" talks about how God uses the weak, so we shouldn't let that stop us from being used by him. "Move" relates the struggle to wait for God instead of moving on our time table.
Yet the CD also offers lots of hope. "This Far" is an anthem celebrating the fact that God never gives up on us. And if you are looking for a song of encouragement, look no further then "I'm not going Down." This rock song is a cry of determination.
The only song that doesn't work for me is "Grace." It gives us a new picture of God's grace by comparing it to a faithful lover. While every line is true, there are a couple lines that make me uncomfortable. But this one song is the only weakness.
Stylistically, the disc mixes guitar based pop and rock with a few slower numbers like "You are Mercy" and "Everything I Own."
This is an absolutely outstanding CD. If you love great Christian music, get it today.
