Music Review: If you don't know Jars, get this!!!!

First off, if you have NEVER heard Jars of Clay, I reccomend this CD first simply because it is the BEST possible introduction to what they are besides seeing them live. :) I saw them live BEFORE I ever really heard anything by them except the songs "Liquid" and "Love Song for the Savior". However, out of all the concerts of been to and seen, NO ONE can compare to them. Well, and although they have a GREAT sense of humor and are talented musicians, this is not why they are so awesome live, no it is because they truly have the spirit of the Lord with them, it really shines through :). Me, who had NEVER heard them before was drawn into EACH & EVERY song, this had NEVER happened before, not even close, not when I never knew the songs. The only other artist that came close to this was another Christian singer "Stacie Orrico", she is also amazing, you should see her live if you get the chance!!!

Now, onto the album. I will cover the studio first, as it is the first disc. To tell you the truth, I don't care for the studio disc a whole lot, it kind of lacks the same spirit of the live disc, and the songs that were originaly from earlier albums, although I do like the slowed down version of "Liquid" a lot, its very meloncholy, but very good. The new songs aren't bad either I really like "Dig" its really good song.! :D This its worth hearing these new songs and new renditions of Jars favorites, it makes me wonder what they were going for when they recorded these because they all have this sort of meloncholy tone to them. Still very good though!!!

Now, the live album is a whole other thing!!! While studio album on here feels meloncholic and somewhat tired, this one is the COMPLETE opposite, it is extremely ENERGETIC and UPLIFTING.! :D All the songs are amazing in the first place, and they are even better live on this disc!!! Now, I've heard A LOT of live songs and albums, but to me, they're just "ok", as in nothing special, just like the record no real value. However, with Jars, just as they are awesome when you see them live, this practically just as good!!! I love the live rendition of "I need you", one of my favorite songs of all time and "I'm Alright" and "Revolution" are a couple of VERY spirited songs that wll get you going. But truly, its hard to pick out favorites, so I wont, they'll all awesome.!

I think this a a MUST HAVE for ANY music fan, at first you may not get it, but I think with time, if you open up your heart, you'll find something truly amazing. So, go on, give these disc a try!!! You'll be VERY *glad* you did.!
