Music Review: Why is this the only Jane Russell CD out there?

I do wish one of the terrific labels specializing in repackaging old LPs onto CD would put out a definitive Jane Russell CD. Until then, this will have to do. It's interesting to note that the tracks don't appear to have been lifted directly from the film's audio tracks. The songs from "The French Line" are a bit different from the ones featured in the movie, which makes them all the better. (I imagine they were featured on a soundtrack LP released in the 50's). One cautionary note: Jeanne Crain is credited with her own vocals, but this isn't true. She was in fact dubbed for "Gentlemen Marry Brunettes" by the underrated Anita Ellis, a fantastic session vocalist from the Golden Age of movies and radio. So that's Anita vocalizing with Jane on this CD. Still, it's great that these songs are available on CD.
