Music Review: McMurty put the music back in my life.

Note: The songs mentioned here are from various McMurtry albums I've collected since I first discovered him. His music clicked so well with me that I had to have all his albums and I've collected all I can get my hands on, including "Where'd you hide the Body." Just saw him in Santa Rosa in September 10 at the Earl Baum Festival. Wonderful show!
Regarding McMurtry: the first time I heard, "We Can't Make it Here Anymore," I was hooked. Ordered that first album, "Childish Things." Was not familiar with McMurty's body of work. Was afraid "We Can't Make it Here Anymore," might be a One-Hit-Wonder. But in that first full album I purchased I found a kindred soul in McMurtry. If you like any one song by James McMurtry, chances are you'll find his body of work totally addictive. From "Choctaw Bingo" to "Cheney's Toy," McMurty will peel the layers off your soul like an onion. Songs like "Fireline Road" haunt your heart and mind.
Simply put, James McMurtry put the music back in my life. I didn't think that could happen in the aftermath of having to watch all that the Bush Crime Family got away with. Bush and Cheney broke the heart of the American Dream. McMurtry captures that breakdown of this country's moral high ground so well. McMurtry is a true patriot an era of the Patriot Act.
