Music Reviews of Sing-A-Longs & Lullabies for the Film Curious GeorgeMusic Review: Music for everyone to enjoy Rating: 5 Stars
It is not so curious that my eight-year-old daughter liked Jack Johnson's music before the production of this movie started and this CD came out. She made me replay In Between Dreams songs over and over. The reasons are obvious; Jack Johnson's music and lyrics have always had this soothing, truthful, and melancholic yet upbeat quality. Without considering the context of this production (soundtrack or single release), once again Johnson has produced A+ music for everyone, no matter what age, to enjoy.
Music Review: Breezy & Light Rating: 4 Stars
Jack Johnson is the perfect choice to contribute songs to the film Curious George. His breezy, carefree & whimsical style captures the essence of the book and film's main character. "Upside Down", "Lullaby" & "Questions" all effortlessly float along while a Hawaiian flavored version of the White Stripes' "We're Going To Be Friends" makes for an interesting cover. This album is perfect for both children and adults as the kids will love the Curious George tie-in and parents won't have to put earplugs in while the kids listen.
Music Review: a Mom's review Rating: 5 Stars
I bought this CD for my four year old because it was the first movie she went to. She went on a "date with Daddy", so I had not seen the movie or heard the soundtrack when I bought it. Now this CD is all of our favorites(mom, dad, 4 year old and 7 year old sister)! It's so nice having music that doesn't have language or subject matter to old for the kids but at the same time isn't annoying for the adults.
Listening to this CD makes me feel peaceful and relaxed. I will tell anyone that Curious George is my favorite CD!
Music Review: Jack Johnson does it again Rating: 5 Stars
My wife and I got into Jack Johnson when "Brushfire Fairytales" first came out and we've managed to buy all of his CD's including his surfing movie soundtracks. Johnson certainly has a unique sound that makes his music such a pleasure to listen to. The Curious George soundtrack is BY NO MEANS for children only. I find myself listening to it nonstop without my daughter. Jack Johnson has some ability to create "feel good" songs that put you in a good mood. I recommend purchasing all of Jack Johnson's albums to see for yourself.
Music Review: Another great disc from Johnson Rating: 5 Stars
I'm just now listening to this for the first time...as far as the 'Children's Music tolerable for adults' genre goes, this is one of the best, right up there with 'Not For Kids Only' by Jerry Garcia and David Grisman. Johnson has a great sound, and regardless of the childish lyrics, Johnson's vocal stylings and accompanying music are very enjoyable. Sounds just as good as Johnson's other albums.
With music like this, why would one ever introduce their children to the Wiggles? Or Rafi? Or Barney?
