Music reviews of Skull RingMusic Review: I like 7 and 14 Rating: 2 Stars
Track 1 - Little Electric Chair (w/Stooges) This track is rocking from the first second and if nothing else, it's fun to listen to Iggy repeat 'Frying up some hair in that little electric chair' over and over and over. But I do like the music itself on this track, which I can't say for all the songs on the CD. (8/10)Track 2 - Perverts in the Sun (w/Trolls) I don't really enjoy this song. I do like the title. (4/10) Track 3 - Skull Ring (w/Stooges) I don't like this song. (2/10) Track 4 - Superbabe (w/Trolls) This song is cool. The music is decent. Iggy's singing is nice. Sounds like a pretty good mixing job too. (7/10) Track 5 - Loser (w/Stooges) Don't like it much. (2/10) Track 6 - Private Hell (w/Green Day) Song's OK. Yeah, it's not bad. Decent song. (5/10) Track 7 - Little Know it alll (w/Sum 41) I love this song. I think it's beautiful. Great job by Iggy and Sum 41. (9/10) Track 8 - Whatever (w/Trolls) Good. Not very good. Not bad. (6/10) Track 9 - Dead Rock Star (w/stooges) Better than the worst of these songs but not really a good listen. (4/10) Track 10 - Rock Show (w/Peaches) Definitely an interesting song but it's got that 'filler' sound. It doesn't sound like it was very exhausting or exciting to produce. The shortest song on the CD, (2:09). (4/10) Track 11 - Here comes the summer (w/Trolls) I don't like it at all. (2/10) Track 12 - Motor Inn (w/Freedom & Peaches) Some of the female vocals on this track are really good and the song is much better than some of the others on the CD. It's kind of zany and ridiculous and zanily ridiculous at different points during the song too and I love that. (7/10) Track 13 - Inferiority Complex (w/Trolls) I like this song alright. Not bad. (5/10) Track 14 - Supermarket (w/Green Day) I love this song. I think it's beautiful. Great job by Iggy and Green Day. (9/10) Track 15 - Til Wrong Feels Right (*no help*) I don't know what to say about this song. Honestly. I don't. It left me without anything to say. It's... funny. (6/10) Track 16 - Blood on your cool (w/Trolls) Better than some of the other tracks. Just OK. (5/10) Track 17 (Nervous Exhaustion(?)) runs after track 16 with 16 still showing on your CD player and it's another track I don't care for all that much. It's fast and hard and punk-y but it's lacking in quality. (5/10 for Track 17) I give the CD as a whole a 5 out of 10. The question is whether you want to buy a CD for 2 good songs. My answer is no unless you like Iggy enough that you're curious about the other 15 songs that are there. They are 15 more songs even if they're not great and if you're a huge Iggy fan, of course you buy the CD. Am I disappointed I bought this thang? Slightly.
