Music Review: Truly a Time of Worship and Blessings

For me, this was the CD/tape that convinced me that praise music is just as blessed as the hymns to which I was accustomed. We had been singing praise music at church, but I wasn't convinced I liked it. But as I listened to this tape, over and over, I was blessed each time...drawn closer to God. Singing ABOUT God just isn't the same as singing TO God. You can feel that Darlene and the Hillsong family aren't singing to hear themselves sing. They are truly leading us in worship. There are too many powerful songs to choose favorites, although I love JESUS, LOVER OF MY SOUL and POWER OF YOUR LOVE. The music, words, and experience begin to become a part of you. When I was waiting in a hospital emergency room, sometimes wafting in and out of alertness, I was comforted by the refrains of "I believe the presence of the Lord is in this place" and "As I wait, I'll rise up like the eagle, and I will soar with You. Your Spirit leads me on, in the power of Your love." I also like that they included words to the songs. In my opinion, this is the recording that put praise music on the map.
