Music Review: Stands out from most other electronic projects...

Heimataerde is one of the few electronic acts doing something truly original. It has become almost cliched to say that electronic music all sounds the same, but it is true, especially in the dark electro scene. Heimataerde isn't exactly dark electro, isn't exactly industrial, but blends in a lot of these elements to create something really different.
Different isn't necessarily good, but I think this music is. It is heavily layered. Industrial beats are complemented by medieval folk music, the samples do not sound corny, and the lyrics are fairly good considering the subject matter. Songs take some time to develop, and they never feel repetitive. The interludes and instrumentals are excellent; they don't feel like filler material.
The most energetic tracks on Kadavergehorsam are Lebloser Koerper and Morituri Salutant, the most mellow is Eins Sein. Songs like Jerusalem could probably have some crossover appeal for fans of medieval/Celtic music. I only bought Kadavergehorsam a few weeks ago, but so far I would say its replay value is high. Highly recommended.
