Music Reviews of Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Music Review: play it loud!
Rating: 5 Stars

Put it this way.....when I have to go to work and don't want to, when I have to got to the dentist, when I am going out to a party, when I feel blue, there is nothing that gets me up and going like this soundtrack. From the first shout of, "Don't you know me Kansas City? I'm the new Berlin Wall!" I am hooked and feeling better. It is really unusual for a rock soundtrack to have lyrical references to mythology and biblical history and that made it even more intelligant and interesting.
I forgo the morning coffee now and just crank this cd and now my neigbors are doing the same.

Music Review: Meaningful in the context of the movie (amazing regardless)
Rating: 5 Stars

Though funny on a different level than I expected, which was hardly laugh-out-loud, Hedwig and the Angry Inch stretches the imagination of filmmaking. The writer, actor, musician, drag queen of Hedwig is absolutely incredible. The songs are better than great, the band rocks, and the characters and disjointed plot are intensely original. I can't accurately describe the experience of seeing a movie so bold and magnificent with kick -ss rock music that tells the story, as with Hedwig. After you see this, it's almost irresistible not to buy the soundtrack.

Music Review: Pounding, touching, fantastic.
Rating: 4 Stars

The ultimate accompaniment for those of us who desperately needed more after the closing credits of the movie, this soundtrack brings home the pounding glam rock of Hedwig and her Angry Inch. Stephen Trask's lyrics are fantastic, and John Cameron Mitchells vocals are stunning. No lyrics included with the CD which is a bit of a disappointment, and I'm intrigued by others suggestions that the original cast recording is better. I'll have to give it a listen, because I love this movie soundtrack so much that I can't imagine it getting any better!

Music Review: Bowie and T-rex on ACID
Rating: 5 Stars

This music ROCKS! Takes me back to David Bowies Ziggy Startdust periode with a mix of T-Rex and a voise that makes all the hairs on my body stand up! A very nice surprise when looking at the movie on DVD as it blow me away. Never heard about it before untill that one evening looking around at a video store and found the cover interesting. It has been a longtime since something like this came my way and I'm so glad it did. Some of my favorite song are " Tear Me Down " pure rock! " Wig In A Box " and " Freaks "

Music Review: Love the score-not the soundtrack
Rating: 3 Stars

I absolutely love this show!! I'm going to see it's running in Washington for 7th time. On this soundtrack it seems the only people who realize that this music is "rock" are the musicians. John Cameron Mitchel has a beautiful voice but.....he lacks the energy I think follow with the part of Miss Hedwig Robinson. My favorite performance of this part is by Aaron Berk. He is fabulous! He follows the music as it goes from rock to heavy metal to ballads to almost-country. See his fansite for more info.
