Music Review: Heart: GREATEST HITS (1998)

In early 1998, Howard Leese, who had stuck with Heart since day one, made his departure from the band, leaving just Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson. In the Summer of 1998, Heart released their sixteenth album simply titled, GREATEST HITS. This album features Heart's greatest hits from that of 1976 to 1983 (covering DREAMBOAT ANNIE, LITTLE QUEEN, MAGAZINE, DOG & BUTTERFLY, BEBE LE STRANGE, GREATEST HITS LIVE, PRIVATE AUDITION, & PASSIONWORKS). The album features seventeen tracks, where sixteen of these songs are their greatest hits, with the seventeenth being a newly recorded song that was penned by Diane Warren. This is a great album, especially for fans that loved Heart's music from the '70s to 1980.
STRONG, STRONG WIND
New song. This is a beautiful song that I could listen to over and over again. The temporary lineup for this song features: ANN WILSON (Lead and Backing Vocals), NANCY WILSON (Vocals, Harmony Vocals, & Backing Vocals, Acoustic & Electric Guitars), RANDY WALDMAN (Piano), JIMMY JOHNSON (Bass), CARLOS VEGA (Drums), & PETER ASHER (Percussion). Ann has said that this song might as well have been written for Heart, and Heart was the perfect choice to sing this song because of how amazing this song turned out to be.

CRAZY ON YOU

BARRACUDA
From the album LITTLE QUEEN (1977). Great tune. I even loved hearing this song in one scene of McG's 2000 Blockbuster Hit; "Charlie's Angels" (starring as the angels: Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, & Lucy Liu, with Bill Murray as the loveable Bosley).

From the album PRIVATE AUDITION (1982). A great song, but I wish they would have also included "Private Audition".
HOW CAN I REFUSE

ROCK AND ROLL (Live)
From the album GREATEST HITS LIVE (1980). A great cover of Led Zepplin's hit. I really hate Led Zepplin's original rendition, but I do love hearing Heart's rendition.
This is a great album for all Heart fans to have, especially for the fans who loved Heart's hits from the '70s. A great album is waiting for you to pick up a copy for yourselves, if you do not have one already.
